I always put an orange in the "toe" of the stocking to remind the kids that there was a time where an orange was cherished and how lucky we are. My hubby loves getting the chocolate orange. My kids started a tradition where we store their "cookie" letter to Santa (and his response) in their stocking when it is packed away.
